Neston Park - Neston Park is an English country house and estate in the village of Neston, some 2 miles 3 km south of Corsham, Wiltshire. The name of the village of Neston derives from the name of the house.%0AThe present house dates from 1790 and has been extended several time since then. It is ashlar-built in two storeys three storey at rear with a frontage of 8 bays, and is Grade II%2A listed. The grounds of the house contain farmland: the estate extends from north of Neston village, southwards beyond Atworth, to South Wraxall, and includes the certified organic home farm with a herd of Jersey cattle and unusual Aberdeen Angus and Jersey cross-bred cattle. The route of the ancient Roman road from London to Bath crosses the home farm from east to west, about 200 metres 700 feet south of the house.%0AThe local portion of the road is sometimes known as the Wansdyke.

It contains several notable historic buildings among them the stately home of Corsham Court. During the Second World War and the Cold War it became a major administrative and manufacturing centre for the Ministry of Defence, with numerous establishments both above ground and in disused quarry tunnels. More recently, due in part of the presence of the MOD since WWII, the Corsham area has become a significant national digital hub. It was built by William Fermor, 1st Baron Leominster 1648%E2%80%931711 , in the Baroque style to the design of the architect Nicholas Hawksmoor. Easton Neston is thought to be the only mansion which was solely the work of Hawksmoor. From about 1700, after the completion of Easton Neston, Hawksmoor worked with Sir John Vanbrugh on many buildings, including Castle Howard and Blenheim Palace, and often provided technical knowledge to the less qualified Vanbrugh. Hawksmoor s work was always more classically severe than Vanbrugh s. However, Easton Neston predates this partnership by some six years.
