Primo Interactive at 20

Two decades of digital work, long-standing clients, and an evolving idea of what a small agency can usefully be.

The Primo Interactive office at Gediminas 20, Vilnius

This year, Primo Interactive turned twenty.

We were founded in 2006, from a small office on Chester Business Park. The web was a different place then. WordPress had just turned three. The iPhone would not arrive for another year. Mobile-responsive design was still a phrase a couple of years away from being coined. Most small-business websites in Britain were being cobbled together in Dreamweaver by whoever in the office happened to understand HTML, and if you wanted a site that actually ranked on Google you more or less had to write it by hand.

Twenty years later we are still here. We have moved from one small office to bases in London and Vilnius. We have grown from a one-person operation into a team that covers web design, bespoke CRM, e-commerce, AI voice agents, sales automation, hosting, and strategic consultancy, plus everything around them. The technology stack has turned over three or four times. Entire categories of tool have been invented, adopted, declared the future of everything, and quietly replaced within the decade. The clients, interestingly, tend to stick around longer than the trends do.

Thank you

If you have worked with us at any point over the last two decades, thank you. Some of our earliest clients are still with us. We have built three or four generations of website for some of them, and a few have seen their own second generation of leadership come in without moving on from us. Long client relationships are the most honest measure of whether a digital agency is doing the work well, and we are genuinely grateful for the ones we have.

What we have learnt

If a single thread runs through all twenty years, it is this: most business problems do not need the latest thing. They need the right thing, chosen carefully, and built properly. The web in 2006 was full of people making complicated things because complicated things were new. The web in 2026 is full of people making complicated things because complicated things are impressive. In both cases, the businesses that actually won were the ones who wrote clean code, kept the pages fast, measured what was working, and treated their customers as adults. We have tried to make that our default since day one and it has served us, and our clients, well.

The other thread is that nothing replaces doing good work consistently over a long time. The flashy agency that pitches brilliantly and vanishes after eighteen months is a pattern we have seen dozens of times. The quieter one still there a decade later, with most of its original clients, is rarer and almost always the better bet. We have tried to be the second kind.

What is next

AI is now reshaping how we work with clients. The businesses that will still be here in 2046 are the ones doing the disciplined thinking about it today, not the loudest announcing. Our plan for the next twenty years is to keep doing what has served us for the last twenty: choosing technology deliberately rather than fashionably, writing code carefully, working with a small number of businesses over a long time, and being honest about what will and will not work.

If that sounds like the kind of digital partner you want, our discovery calls are always free, and now they come with two decades of pattern-matching attached. If you are already one of our clients reading this: thank you. Here is to the next twenty.
