Yateley - Yateley is a town and civil parish in the English county of Hampshire. It lies in the north-eastern corner of Hart District Council area. It includes the settlements of Frogmore and Darby Green to the east. It had a population of 21,011 at the 2001 census. The four wards that comprise Yateley and their 2001 populations are Yateley East 5,168 , Yateley North 5,078 , Yateley West 5,149 , and Frogmore and Darby Green 5,616 . The 2009 projection was 20,214, according to the Hart District Council website. Yateley Town Council is one of the few local councils to have been recognised under the national Quality Council award scheme.In 2011 Hart district was named the UK s most desirable place to live, and Yateley was mentioned on a BBC News article as one of the towns within the district. In 2014, it was rated one of the most attractive postcode areas to live in England.
Murder of Milly Dowler - On 21 March 2002, Amanda Jane Milly Dowler, a 13-year-old English schoolgirl, was reported missing by her parents after failing to return home from school and not being seen since walking along Station Avenue in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, that afternoon. Following an extensive search for her, her remains were discovered in Yateley Heath Woods in Yateley, Hampshire, on 18 September.%0AOn 23 June 2011, Levi Bellfield, who was already serving three life sentences for the murders of Marsha McDonnell and Am%C3%A9lie Delagrange and the attempted murder of Kate Sheedy, was found guilty of abducting and murdering Dowler and sentenced to an additional whole-life tariff. On 27 January 2016, Surrey Police announced that Bellfield had admitted to abducting, abusing and killing Dowler.%0AFollowing their daughter s death, Dowler s parents established a charity called Milly s Fund to promote public safety, and in particular the safety of the children and young people. The case generated debate over the treatment of victims and witnesses in court, after Dowler s family criticised the way they were cross-examined during Bellfield s trial.%0ADowler s murder played a significant role in the News of the World phone-hacking scandal. In 2011, reports said the News of the World journalists had accessed Dowler s voicemail after she was reported missing, giving her parents false hope she was still alive. The resulting outcry from the British public contributed to the closure of the newspaper and led to a range of investigations and inquiries into phone hacking and media ethics in British media.
Blackbushe Airport - Blackbushe Airport IATA: BBS, ICAO: EGLK is an operational general aviation airport in the civil parish of Yateley in the north-east corner of the English county of Hampshire. Built during the Second World War, Blackbushe is north of the A30 road between Camberley and Hook. It for a time straddled this road with traffic having to wait whilst airliners were towed across. The southside was used for aircraft maintenance, utilising wartime-built hangars. Today, only the part of the airfield section that lay north of the A30 remains in active use. The traditional name for the flat piece of land on which it is sited is Hartford Bridge Flats. The nearest towns are Yateley and Fleet.%0ABlackbushe Aerodrome has a CAA Ordinary Licence Number P693 that allows flights for the public transport of passengers or for flying instruction as authorised by the licensee Blackbushe Airport Limited . Yateley Complex - The Yateley Complex is a working gravel pit and a series of fishing lakes at Yateley, Hampshire, England, operated by CEMEX, the world s largest building materials supplier. The fishing side of the facility is under the management of CEMEX Angling, a subsidiary of the main company. CEMEX Angling operates 11 lakes at the site, which includes part of the River Blackwater and is stocked with a variety of fish. Around 5000 anglers a year visit the complex, which was also home to Heather the Leather a carp , described as Britain s most famous fish . In addition to angling use, some of the gravel pits have been restored as sports pitches and some were nominated as potential allotment sites.
Yateley School - Yateley School is the largest secondary school in North East Hampshire. The school teaches over 1500 students aged 11 %E2%80%93 16, and the attached sixth form college caters for ages 16%E2%80%9318. The school had its latest Ofsted Report in 2018, where the school achieved a good rating, and the Sixth Form College achieved an outstanding rating.Yateley School consists of four houses named after significant British people: Charles Darwin, Emmeline Pankhurst, Florence Nightingale and William Wilberforce.%0AIn the 2008 Ofsted report, it is noted that the Sixth Form made significant improvements after a new Director of Sixth Form was appointed shortly before the 2008 Ofsted inspection .In 2016, Year 11 had achieved the school s highest GCSE results in the past four years.
